Eating wheat buns the evening before Great Prayer Day, is a tradition in Denmark. It`s easy to make and delicious to enjoy, just roasting the two half and grease it with plant-based butter.
12 Wheat Buns
Ingredients
30g yeast
30g sugar
1 tsp. salt
250ml. plant-based milk
75g plant-based butter
1 tsp. of cardamom
500g wheat flour
How to do
Crumble the yeast in a bowl and add salt and sugar.
Stir until the yeast has dissolved.
Warm up the plant- milk in a bowl, in a pan.
Melt butter and pour it in the bowl with plant milk, stirring
Get half the flour in, along with cardamom
Stir and add the other half.
Knead the dough well. It must be sticky but not too much, otherwise pour a little more flour.
Set to rais, covered with a dishtowel for 30 min.
Prepare a ovenproof pan with baking paper. (20 x 30)
After 30 minutes, divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Weight approx. 73g each.
Shape them into buns.
Get all 12 pieces into the ovenproof pan.
Set it to rise, covered for 2 hours. The buns will double in size and touch each other.
Turn on the oven to 180 degrees hot air.
Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden
